The idea
A fixed payout buys less as prices rise. The tool shows the future buying power of your cover and the amount you would need then to match todays value.
Example
At 3% inflation over 20 years, 500,000 has the buying power of about 276,800 in todays money. To match 500,000 of todays value you would need about 903,000.
Frequently asked questions
What inflation rate should I use?
Use a long-run assumption such as 2% to 3%, then test a higher figure.
How do I fix a gap?
Some people review cover every few years or add a second policy as needs grow.
